The Tabernacle in Branson Redesign

THE CLIENTS PROBLEM

The Tabernacle in Branson is a small, Messianic Jewish congregation in Branson, Missouri. They came to me because their current and potential members were having a hard time navigating and understanding their website.

THE PROCESS

RESEARCH + PLANNING

To start off the project I mapped out the content of the old site and, with the client, determined what content should be kept and what should be discarded. Then, with the content strategy in mind I began going through their top competitors websites websites from the perspective of a potential member to get ideas about what worked in their industry and what the user journey is like.

DESIGN

To begin the design phase I took all of the content we decided to keep and mapped out the information architecture. Next I began sketching out a couple of wireframes to get an idea of what direction I wanted the final design to go in. Finally, I made a functioning responsive prototype for the client to approve before moving on to development.

DEVELOPMENT

I have 6 years of coding experience. However, this was my first time coding a website. I coded it in HTML and CSS with a little bit of JavaScript. I didn't know any css frameworks yet and Bootstrap was still a little too daunting for me(thats what this is made in) so I used a sort of bootstrap lite called w3 CSS and that worked perfectly for what I needed. There wasn't any need for any backend languages. The only backend I dealt with was the paypal eCommerce system.

TESTING + MAINTENANCE

After I was done coding the website I went through and tested everything to make sure it all worked correctly. I then launched the site and checked to make sure everything worked and looked good cross browser and cross-os. Since then, I have been maintaining the site; making improvement's to the sites user experience, based on client and user feedback
